Cade (pronounced Katie) joined me and Stanley on her first hike today! She is a 5 1/2 month old vizsla and she and Stanley had loads of fun on the trail today. At first she was a bit shy, but she quickly realized what a big softy Stanley is and how much fun it is to go hiking with us. Here are some pics from Cade's first hike. Sorry some of them are blurry!
Be Prepared and Keep Your Dogs Safe in the Heat!
Summer is my favourite time of year, bugs and all! This sunny warm season can be dangerous for our dogs so it is important to take precautions to keep them safe from overheating. I have been putting my hot weather tools for my K9 hikers in place in preparation for the heat so I thought I would share some information about why the heat is dangerous and tips about staying safe.

I always end each hike with 10-20 minutes of loose leash training as a group. Today after an enjoyable fun-filled off-leash hike with Stanley, Stevie and Lusi, I leashed the dogs up about one kilometre from the van and we began our leash work. It was at this point in our journey that a very unfortunate, unexpected and unpleasant experience occurred.
